SB & Company, LLC, is truly different from other public accounting and business advisory firms. The firm’s founders envisioned a regional certified public accounting firm that offered the best in professional services, was multi-cultural with a mixture of different nationalities and ethnicities, and truly cared about its people. Diversity is just as necessary in minority firms as it is in majority companies. Our firm reflects the cients we serve and the community we live in.
SBC exists today as that ideal, built on the foundation of the “Big 4” experience of the partners and highly qualified professionals who apply industry and business knowledge to assist companies in successfully meeting their regulatory and business needs. The firm’s reputation with its clients in the areas of technical competence, industry knowledge and client service are true to the vision of the firm.
In creating our vision, SBC’s culture embraces diversity and emphasizes the importance of building relationships that last a lifetime with clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. None of this would be possible without the “Big 4” experience that the founding partners bring to the firm. Many firms are unable to build a skilled workforce and infrastructure necessary to serve large entities with complex transactions due to a lack of large firm experience. In addition, they are not rooted from an environment that instill into them how important talented staff, a commitment to training and quality, as well as a sound methodology are to successfully compete with other firms. Without this commitment it is difficult for these firms to retain highly qualified “Big 4” personnel.
Gray Smith, a previous partner at “Big 4” firms Arthur Andersen LLP and Ernst & Young LLP, Monique Booker, a senior manager with Arthur Andersen LLP, Jen Leary, a senior manager with Ernst & Young LLP, and Bill Seymour formerly with Arthur Andersen, LLP bring the necessary large firm experience to SBC to implement a successful strategy in truly being a “different kind of firm.”
There are a number of present and former “Big 4” clients that have sought the services of SBC because they are confident they will receive the technical competence of a larger firm, better client service than received at the “Big 4” level, greater partner involvement, and at a more reasonable price. Our success with these large entities speaks to the ability and foundation the firm is built upon.

OUR PEOPLE
In hiring the most talented individuals in the market, our firm’s professionals offer the best skills and knowledge available in the accounting profession. Building on the firm’s “Big 4” leadership, many personnel have joined SBC from other international public accounting firms. Our professional staff is also recruited from college campuses throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The international firm culture is taught to all of our personnel from college graduates to seasoned professionals. In doing so, we teach our professionals that it is important to be technically competent and research technical issues. Most importantly, a commitment to provide the best quality work and client service is vital to the firm’s success. As in any international firm culture, the emphasis is to work through the large and complex issues. Most firms our size and many larger regional firms do not have this opportunity to train their people with a large firm mentality because they have not worked in international accounting firms with this culture.
